John Obi Mikel is confident Chelsea are coping without Frank Lampard, but cannot wait to see his team-mate back in action.
Lampard is still recovering from the hernia surgery he underwent last month and has missed Chelsea's last five matches.
Though the Blues comfortably won the first three games without Lampard, back-to-back defeats by Newcastle United and Manchester City have raised questions about the champions' ability to cope without their talismanic midfielder.
The 32-year-old is still two weeks away from a return and will now sit out Tuesday's UEFA Champions League tie with Marseille and the London derby with Arsenal on Sunday.
However, while acknowledging Lampard's influence and eagerness to have him back, Mikel believes Chelsea are managing just fine without his fellow midfielder.
"Frank is an important player for this team, we all know that," said Mikel on the back of seeing Chelsea's 100 per cent Premier League start ended by City on Saturday.
"He has shown his consistency over the years, but right now he is injured.
"It is a massive loss for the team, but we are coping well without him. We have lost one game without him. We have also scored a lot of goals, but we can't wait to have him back.
"The Manchester City game was the first we have lost, we have played well and scored a lot of goals.
"We lost a game, but I don't think it is the end of the season. In this team, once we lose a game we try to come back and do things we didn't do in the previous one.
"We want to go out there tomorrow and give a good performance and score some goals. We want to get maximum points."
