Arsene Wenger praised the performance of much-maligned goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski after Arsenal beat Partizan Belgrade 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League.
Fabianski has come under heavy criticism for a number of high-profile errors, yet he was handed a starting berth on Tuesday following an injury to Manuel Almunia.
And the Poland international enjoyed an encouraging display as he saved a late penalty to avoid a tense finale for his side.
Wenger told Sky Sports: "You have seen the Lukasz I see everyday. It is encouraging for him, he had a good game.
"I don't know what I will do yet (for the Chelsea game on Sunday), we will see.
"It was important he had a good game because he has a lot of talent and I am glad he showed that tonight."
Of his team's display, Wenger was glad his players overcame a tough test at the Stadion FK Partizan, with goals from Andrey Arshavin, Marouane Chamakh and Sebastien Squillaci proving decisive.
He said: "We had a good game, but as is with the Champions League when you do not finish it off you can be punished.
"When they came back to 1-1 it was a question of patience for us. And in the end we got an important win."
