Everton midfielder targets first victory

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill insists the Toffees are determined to get a first Premier League win of the season under their belt. David Moyes' men are yet to pick up a three-point haul in six attempts and slipped to the bottom of the table at the weekend after being held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage. Next on the agenda for the struggling Merseysiders is a testing clash with Birmingham at St Andrews on Saturday afternoon. And Australia international Cahill admitted that missing out on victory against the Cottagers has made them even more eager to end Blues' impressive unbeaten home record. Moyes handed Cahill a role up front alongside Aiyegbeni Yakubu last weekend and the 30-year-old feels it is a partnership which could bear fruit.

Pressure

"We would have loved to have got our first win but it obviously just makes us hungrier now," he told the Liverpool Daily Post. "We knew how tough it was going to be especially with our position in the table which put more pressure on the game. "We started off really bright and sharp and it's been a while since I have had a chance to play up front with Yak. "We played well and had a few chances and got close to scoring - the football was positive."
