Luke Varney has revealed that a rousing pre-match team talk from Ian Holloway helped Blackpool slay Liverpool.
The Seasiders enjoyed a memorable day out at Anfield on Sunday, with a 2-1 victory exceeding their wildest dreams.
Varney, who was little more than a fringe player at Derby before Blackpool snapped him up over the summer, proved to be the hero of the hour as he grabbed the all important second goal.
He admits that events on Merseyside could not have gone any better for Holloway's Premier League debutants, but the 27-year-old has also made it clear that the club's continued success is no fluke.
"I am obviously delighted and it was a great team effort right from the start to the last minute," Varney told the Blackpool Gazette.
"You could see what it meant to us on the day. The gaffer's team talk was brilliant and got us right up for the game.
"It was a case of coming here and rolling our sleeves up because we knew it was going to be tough."
Meanwhile, another of Blackpool's heroes, goalkeeper Matt Gilks, has played down the role he played in the famous victory.
The Scottish shot-stopper produced a point-blank save to deny Sotirios Kyrgiakos in stoppage-time, keeping the Seasiders' noses in front, but he insists that his efforts were nothing special.
"It came at an important time for everybody," he said.
"As a goalkeeper you can make your first save in the opening minute or right at the end, and that's what happened on the day.
"It wasn't one of my best saves and it was a nice height in fairness.
"I just got a bit lucky really because I got my eyes on it and I saw it all the way as it left his head.
"If he'd put it any higher in the corner it would probably have gone in. Thankfully it bounced away off my gloves and out of the danger zone."
