Scunthorpe defender could be out for six weeks

Scunthorpe defender David Mirfin is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury in the 4-1 defeat by Leeds. Mirfin was forced out of the action at Glanford Park at half-time last Saturday and scans have revealed a tear in the tendon at the bottom of his foot. Manager Ian Baraclough told the club's official website that the 25-year-old is now facing between four and six weeks on the sidelines. The worst-case scenario would see Mirfin remain out of action until shortly before the busy festive period. Baraclough will also not be able to call on Rob Jones for Saturday's derby clash with Hull City at the KC Stadium as the defender's broken hand remains in plaster. Niall Canavan and Michael Raynes are expected to get the nod to team up at the heart of the Iron's defence for the Championship meeting this weekend.
