Jay Tabb has expressed his desire to stay with Reading beyond his current deal at the Championship club.
The Royals midfielder's contract expires in the summer and the former Coventry performer has been trying to earn a new deal since returning from a foot injury.
Tabb has started the last three matches for Reading but by his own account, admits he has yet to regain full match fitness in his bid to remain a feature of Brian McDermott's side.
The 26-year-old told the Reading Evening Post: "I would love to sign a new deal as soon as possible, but at the same time I won't be putting any pressure on the club to do so.
"At the end of the day I've been out for eight weeks, I've only played a handful of games this season and for the last two games I might have been a bit off the pace so I can't expect a new deal right now.
"I'm sure it will all be sorted out. This is the club I want to be at, it's down to me to play well and I can't just take things for granted. I'm more than happy here and would love to stay."
