Rio Ferdinand has talked up England's emerging talent after Fabio Capello confirmed Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Kieran Gibbs will start against France.
The trio will look to shine at Wembley as the Three Lions aim to further restore confidence in the national side.
England infamously endured a poor 2010 World Cup, leading to question marks over the country's footballing future amid suggestions that the talent pool was running dry.
But Ferdinand is eagerly anticipating seeing the emerging players in action versus France on Wednesday.
He said on Sky Sports News: "I think it is fantastic. There is nothing better than seeing a young lad get his first cap and go out there and lap it all up.
"I remember my debut, and it is one of the proudest moments of your life. I hope they go out there and enjoy it and put in a performance.
"We have got a lot of young players who are hungry and want to come in and do well. We have full confidence in them. They are not fazed these young lads.
"The best thing about it is that they know each from coming through the youth ranks and U21s. They are loving it. That is what it is about."
Ferdinand also reserved praise for Newcastle striker Carroll, who has scored seven goals this season.
The Manchester United defender added: "I think he is a real talent, he makes it awkward for opponents to play against. Newcastle have a fantastic player on their hands.
"He is not just a big fella who can head the ball into the net, he has got good feet as well."
