Chris Kirkland is hoping to be in contention to make his Leicester City debut this week after his loan spell was interrupted by a back injury.
The goalkeeper joined the Foxes from Wigan Athletic last month, but hurt his back in training prior to his intended debut against Nottingham Forest.
He returned to his parent club for treatment and Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson had been unsure whether Kirkland would be fit to continue his loan.
However, the 29-year-old has now recovered from the injury and is aiming to feature in Saturday's Championship game against Doncaster Rovers.
"A lot's been made of it again, but it's fine now," Kirkland told the Wigan Evening Post.
"I think the loan was going to be cancelled at one point last week, because it looked as though I'd be out for a couple of weeks.
"But thank goodness that's no longer the case, and hopefully I can get down there later this week, prove my fitness to everyone and get out there on the pitch.
"I've spoken to the coaches at Leicester and they're monitoring the situation.
"But I'm still a Leicester City player on loan, and hopefully I can rejoin the squad and push for a start this weekend."
