Portsmouth striker Danny Webber insists his rehabilitation from injury is going well and he expects to be available for selection in the New Year.
The former Sheffield United forward has been sidelined since March after suffering knee ligament damage.
Pompey boss Steve Cotterill believes he could be ready to join in training towards the end of January and Webber cannot wait to get back.
The 28-year-old told skysports.com: "My recovery is going really well actually, which may surprise a few people because there have been reports that I have suffered a setback, but that is huge news to me.
"I'm very good at the moment and just looking to get back into full training in the New Year.
"The knee feels perfect once again and I am into the final stages of my rehab, so I am very happy with how things are going.
"It is difficult to say that I will be back for a certain game or date, as it is with any long-term injury.
"You also have to bear in mind that it takes time to build your fitness up again.
"Even though my knee is perfect I have to build my fitness up to the level that all the other lads did during their six-eight weeks of pre-season training.
"I'd say that I should be up and running again some time in January."
