Derby manager Nigel Clough has confirmed on-loan goalkeeper Frank Fielding will return to Blackburn Rovers.
The 22-year-old has made 10 consecutive appearances for the Rams after initially being brought on a month-long deal in October, which was later extended.
With Stephen Bywater now ready to return following his wrist injury, Clough plans to bring his regular first choice back into the fray for this weekend's clash with Bristol City.
And while the Pride Park boss was quick to pay tribute to Fielding for his efforts with the Midlands outfit, Clough admits he cannot justify having both men on his books.
"Frank will go back. We are carrying two No.1 goalkeepers because both want to play and both want to be No.1," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"If Frank stays, Stephen's not going to be happy being No.2 and vice versa.
"We are not in a position as a club where we can keep two No.1s happy.
"Stephen's fully fit now. He has had enough training time and he will come back in.
"Frank will go back to Blackburn better for the experience he has had here.
"He has impressed us and I'm sure he has impressed others."
