Stephen Hunt hailed Wolverhampton Wanderers' preparation for the Birmingham City game as they claimed a much-needed 1-0 win.
Hunt revealed after scoring the match-winning goal that manager Mick McCarthy and his backroom staff had his side perfectly readied for Sunday's derby fixture against a combative Blues outfit.
The Republic of Ireland international was joined by the likes of Stephen Ward, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Dave Edwards, who all impressed in what was a depleted XI as the Molineux outfit edged within a point of safety.
And Hunt, who netted his 50th goal in league football, has turned his focus to next weekend's Black Country blockbuster against West Bromwich Albion.
The 29-year-old told Sky Sports HD: "We've got a decent squad but we've had a lot of injuries this week and the week before so to get the three points the young lads are buzzing.
"We had a good three days working on team structure so we knew exactly what we were doing.
"Birmingham are a good team and hopefully this will give us a lift going into the West Brom game next week."
Amongst Wolves' mounting casualty list was first-choice striker Kevin Doyle, who picked up a dead leg on the eve of the Birmingham match.
Hunt reckons his international team-mate will be fit for the Baggies clash but feels Ward and Ebanks-Blake impressed enough on Sunday to warrant a start in that game.
He added: "He picked up a little injury in training which was disappointing for us because he's a massive player for us but Stephen Ward came in and did a good job for us and so did Sylvan so happy days!"
