Darius Vassell is hoping Sven Goran Eriksson will stay on as Leicester manager and lead them to promotion.
Eriksson, who took over from Paulo Sousa at the Walkers Stadium in October, has been linked with the manager's job with the Iran national team.
Vassell, who played under Eriksson at Manchester City, is not surprised to see the Swede linked with other jobs, but he has called on him to stay with the Foxes.
"I have not seen the rumours about Iran, but that kind of speculation does not surprise me at all to be honest," Vassell told The Sun.
"Sven has got a great record at international and club level and there are going to be teams out there that want him all the time. It would not surprise me if it is true. But, hopefully, it is only good times ahead.
"It is exciting. We are all looking forward to where this club is going to be in the next couple of years and we need Sven for that."
AmbitiousVassell, who scored his first goal for Leicester in the weekend win over Doncaster, believes the future is bright for the Foxes under Eriksson.
"The Sven I know has always been ambitious," added Vassell.
"At Man City, he was the same. He brought in so many good players and changed the face of the team. It is no surprise he is trying to do the same now.
"Sven coming here will give the club a breath of fresh air. He is always looking at new players and how we can strengthen.
"It affects some players positively and some negatively but he is looking for what's best for Leicester.
"It's exciting times. I go home to my family and they are all looking forward to where we can be in a few years."
