Sebastien Bassong is hoping Tottenham will be drawn against French opposition in the UEFA Champions League.
Spurs have shone on their debut campaign in Europe's premier club competition, easing into the last 16 as winners of a group that contained current holders Inter Milan.
They have not looked out of place among the continent's elite, with their adventurous approach bringing goals aplenty.
Having progressed safely into the knockout stages, their focus has now turned to Friday's draw for the next round.
Topping their group means, in theory, they will be given an easier route from here on in, with AC Milan, Lyon, Valencia, Copenhagen, Roma, Marseille possible opponents in the last 16.
Cameroon international Bassong insists Harry Redknapp's side fear no-one heading forward but, having been born in Paris, admits that he would welcome the opportunity to return to his homeland.
"I would like to play a French team, because then I could go back to France," he told Sky Sports News.
"I don't want to play them because it will be easy, because it will be a tough game, every game we play will be tough. We just have to wait and see."
Meanwhile, Bassong's defensive colleague Benoit Assou-Ekotto has become the latest Spurs star to air his title ambitions.
Tottenham are currently seven points adrift of leaders Manchester United with the halfway point of the season almost upon us, but the White Hart Lane outfit are confident they can close that gap and remain serious contenders.
"Yeah, we can do it. We are only in December. The season is long," said Assou-Ekotto.
