Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Michael Rensing is set to join Bundesliga strugglers Cologne in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who saw his contract with the Germain champions expire in June, has agreed terms with Cologne until the end of the season.
Rensing struggled to fill the sizeable boots of Oliver Kahn at Bayern in 2008 and lost his place under former manager Jurgen Klinsmann to Jorg Butt.
Louis van Gaal gave Rensing another chance after replacing Klinsmann at the helm but also elected to prefer Butt after five games.
Leicester, Real Mallorca and Hertha Berlin had also shown an interest in Rensing, but he has decided to join the side who are currently third from bottom in the Bundesliga.
