Seasiders ace thankful to former manager

Blackpool striker DJ Campbell will always be in Steve Bruce's debt for giving him a chance in the Premier League. Campbell was signed by Bruce for Birmingham in 2006 while impressing for Brentford after playing non-league football. Although Campbell failed to secure regular first-team football with Blues, he relished his time at St Andrews and learned from the experience. The 29-year-old is now cutting it in the big time with promoted Blackpool and goes head-to-head with Bruce, now Sunderland's manager, on Tuesday.

Thankful

"Steve saw something and I'm more than thankful to him for giving me the chance," he told the club's official website. "It was a massive jump for me but I enjoyed every minute of it. "It made me a better player at the time and I'm forever in debt with Brucey for giving me the chance."
