Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that he would like to bring Edin Dzeko and David Luiz to Eastlands.
The Blues have been strongly linked with Wolfsburg striker Dzeko for some time, with a £30million bid reported to be in the pipeline.
With Mario Balotelli having struggled to settle in England and with Emmanuel Adebayor seemingly edging towards the exits, City are considering bolstering their attacking ranks in January.
Bosnian frontman Dzeko would fit the bill, having established a reputation as one of Europe's leading marksmen during his time in Germany.
City would not be the only ones in the running for his signature were Wolfsburg to cash in, but Mancini admits he would be leading the race.
"He is a player everyone likes," the Italian coach told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But there are many good players - [Andy] Carroll, for example.
"Dzeko is experienced, has been scoring and winning for quite a while, even if he's only 24. Carroll is a 20-year-old of great quality and potential. And everyone wants the best players."
City are also keeping an eye on Benfica defender Luiz, with the 23-year-old Brazilian a player Mancini holds in high regard.
"I don't like to waste money," he added.
"This is why with City we aim for the top players because those are the ones you need to win.
"But I'm not looking now for strong 30-year-olds, but for good young players to build the future of City.
"You have to invest in young talent - players like him [Luiz], whom so many admire, and who I consider to have everything to become one of the best defenders in the world.
"But he's under contract at Benfica."
