Nigel Pearson doubts Hull City's move for Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt will be rushed through, but believes the club are 'nearly there' regarding a deal for Aaron Mclean.
The Tigers are determined to improve their striking options in the January transfer window and have lined up deals for Fryatt and Mclean.
It is understood that fees have been agreed for both players and a move for Fryatt would reunite the forward with Pearson following their time together at Leicester.
However, Hull and Leicester meet at the KC Stadium on New Year's Day and Pearson does not anticipate having Fryatt in his plans for the game.
Mclean, though, could be involved in Saturday's Championship fixture as he closes on his departure from Peterborough.
"I wouldn't imagine Leicester would allow him to play and knowing how long it takes to get anything done from their perspective, it probably won't happen anyway even if they did allow us," said Pearson in the Hull Daily Mail.
"We just have to be patient on that one and see how it goes.
"We're nearly there on both of them but until we get the clearance that they can go ahead, that's all it is."
