West Brom and Wolves target Boro midfielder

Black Country rivals West Brom and Wolves could be set to battle it out for Julio Arca, skysports.com understands. The Middlesbrough midfielder has just six months left on his current deal at the Riverside. Boro have already confirmed they are looking to balance their books and some of their higher earners look set to be allowed to leave. Arca is understood to be one of the best paid players at The Riverside and although he has been involved heavily under Tony Mowbray he could be on the move. The 29-year-old has been with Boro since 2006 when he joined from North East rivals Sunderland. But now he could be ready to head away from Teesside with both West Brom and Wolves believed to be keeping tabs on his situation. Arca would have few problems fitting into West Brom's free-flowing style of football, while Wolves manager Mick McCarthy knows him well from their time together at Sunderland. Boro boss Mowbray admits Arca could be one of those who leaves in January. Mowbray said: "Julio earns Premier League money. He has been there all of his career. I have spoken to him and I am in no rush to lose high quality footballers. "But high quality footballers are really hurting us financially at the moment. Julio knows we can't continue along the lines we are going. If we get in a bid for Julio then he will have to go."
