Craig Brown is hoping a loan link-up with Sir Alex Ferguson can help bring young Manchester United stars to Aberdeen.
The Dons manager revealed that he has been in phone contact with the United boss and is hopeful his friend will extend a helping hand to his former club.
January looks set to be an exciting month at the club with a possible influx of United starlets to Pittodrie.
Brown is also hoping to tie up a deal for ex-Plymouth left-back Tony Capaldi and admitted there could be a number of new arrivals during the transfer window.
"I spoke to Sir Alex and am hopeful something can be done because he's a good friend of mine," Brown told the Daily Record.
"I won't be taking his best players obviously but the ones we bring in can push my players on.
"The players there have a great track record and decent pedigree or they wouldn't be at United.
"I asked about them because the chance was there and I think we can have some success on that front. They may not be the oldest but they can give my players the benefit of their experience."
Out-of-contract Capaldi is a more immediate target for Brown, with the player currently on trial with the Dons.
The 29-year-old played three games for Morecambe earlier this season in a short-term deal and is now attracting interest from a number of clubs.
A deal for Capaldi could be the first of many in January, with Brown also revealing plenty is going on behind the scenes.
"I don't want to put any pressure on Tony," Brown added.
"He's coming up and the chance is there for him but that's all it is - a chance for us to have a look at him and vice versa.
"He is a great player but there is no pressure on him."
"We have spoken to other clubs in England as well and contacts abroad. The phones have been red-hot but I haven't finalised anything on that front yet."
