Hungarian midfielder released by Hull

Peter Halmosi claims to have been released by Hull City and is preparing to return to his native Hungary. The 31-year-old has spent the last two-and-a-half years on the Tigers' books, having joined from Plymouth in the summer of 2008. He penned a four-year contract upon his arrival, with a fee in excess of £2million making him the club's record signing at that time. Unfortunately he has struggled to live up to his early billing, with first-team opportunities having slowly dwindled. He agreed to join former employers Haladas in January 2010, penning a loan deal which ran for the remainder of the campaign. Halmosi now hopes to link up with the Szombathely-based outfit on a full-time basis, having apparently seen his contract at the KC Stadium terminated by mutual consent.

Free agent

"At Hull City I realised that whatever I do, I can't get into the team," he told skysports.com. "I decided a long time ago that at the age of 31 or 32 I wanted to go back to Hungary and finish my career at Haladas. "It is sure that I won't stay in England, although my agent has told me that many teams have shown an interest, especially now I'm a free agent. "I want to live in Szombathely. If I can't sign for Haladas for some reason then Austria might be an option for me as it's only a one or two hours of driving from Szombathely. "I've already played in Graz, for a team called GAK, in the past but there are lot of teams that are close to my home so I could go there day by day." Reports in Hungary suggest Gyori ETO and Debreceni are also keen on Halmosi, but the experienced midfielder has made it clear that a return to Haladas is his preferred option.
