Reported West Ham target refuses to join up with German club

Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner has confirmed reported West Ham United target Demba Ba has gone AWOL. The Senegal international has refused to join his team-mates in La Manga for their training camp, adding fuel to speculation that the striker could be heading to the Hammers in the January transfer window. Hoffenheim, who paid £2.5million for Ba's service back in 2007, have told the 25-year-old he must report for duty or face being fined by the Bundesliga outfit. Tanner told BILD: "It is a fact, despite warnings from the executive board and despite my request, he has refused to come over to join us. "Demba said he is not clear-headed at the moment. We have been spoken over three days about this, in between Christmas and New Year. I have told him now he will be facing legal consequences. "He could either be facing a fine or even a termination with immediate effect -something that would ban him and not allow him to play for a new club for a while."
