West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed his interest in Aston Villa striker John Carew.

West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed his interest in John Carew, but is unsure if the Aston Villa striker is available.
Di Matteo is looking to improve his attacking options in January and had been keen to sign Manchester United striker Federico Macheda on loan.
Macheda, though, is heading to Sampdoria and Di Matteo is now weighing up a move to bring in Villa's out-of-favour front-man, Carew.
The Norwegian is out of contract at the end of the season and has been tipped to leave this month after his former coach at Lyon - Gerard Houllier - took over as Villa manager.
Proven record
"I think we've been linked with a number of players because we said we were looking for a striker - like the whole country!" said Di Matteo.
"Carew is one we've looked at, but we're not sure about the availability of the player at the moment.
"We're looking for a player that has some kind of proven record. They don't come in masses and it's difficult because so many clubs are after a striker.
"We'll need to be patient and a lot of clubs will have to wait to see what the movements are of players."
Myhill chance
Meanwhile, Di Matteo has confirmed Boaz Myhill will be given the chance to stake his claim to replace the out-of-form Scott Carson as West Brom's No.1 goalkeeper in Saturday's FA Cup clash at Reading.
He added: "It was planned before the Fulham game that Myhill was going to play on Saturday against Reading.
"Myhill will start the game on Saturday and it will give us a bit of time to digest everything and take it from there.
"Scott was disappointed with himself the other night and he realises he should have done better with the first goal.
"When you're a goalkeeper it gets emphasised when you make a mistake. But he usually reacts quite well to disappointments. He has done it in the past."
