Walter Smith insists Rangers are not ready to rival Celtic for the signing of Norwegian striker Erik Huseklepp.
Celtic are in talks regarding a £1million deal for the SK Brann forward and Rangers were also rumoured to want the 26-year-old.
However, Smith is happy to give Celtic a free run at Huseklepp and is not looking to add the player to his squad this month.
"I think there is a wee bit of fantasy football going on there," said the Rangers manager.
"We have never enquired about that player."
Meanwhile, Celtic defender Thomas Rogne would welcome the addition of his compatriot to the Parkhead squad.
"I wouldn't mind that at all," said Rogne. "He's a great player. He is very technical and quick and he is tall, strong and powerful.
"He has done really well for his club in the Norwegian league and for the national team.
"He has been linked with a lot of good clubs and he is a quality player.
"I don't think Celtic needs to be sold to anyone, it's a massive club and everyone knows that.
"Celtic have great supporters, they play nice football and there is always pressure to win every game - but it's a good experience to have."
