Hull City have completed the signing of defender James Chester from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
Skysports.com revealed last month that the Tigers had lined up a deal for Chester following the 21-year-old's impressive loan spell at Carlisle United.
Chester had spent the first half of the season on loan with the Cumbrians and scored four goals in 24 appearances for the League One club.
However, he has now been offered the chance to prove himself in the Championship after signing a three-and-a-half year contract at the KC Stadium.
Reports suggest the Tigers have spent in the region of £300,000 on the centre-half, who made just one senior appearance during his United career.
His debut for Hull, though, is on hold as he is ineligible for Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Wigan Athletic after playing for Carlisle earlier in the competition.
