Tomasz Kuszczak is determined to grasp his opportunity to secure a long-term future at Manchester United.
The goalkeeper has started United's last three games in the absence of Edwin van der Sar and is vying to replace the Dutchman on a permanent basis.
Van der Sar is expected to retire at the end of the season and there have been question marks over Kuszczak's credentials to replace his United team-mate.
However, after keeping a clean sheet in the FA Cup third round win over Liverpool on Sunday, Kuszczak expressed his intention to prove his suitability to succeed Van der Sar.
"Every game is massive for me," he said.
"I want to show that I can take over from Edwin. For us young players, we have to be ready.
"When we play, we must play very well."
The Poland international has been linked with a loan move to Leicester City, but Kuszczak's focus is on playing more regularly at Old Trafford.
"There has been all this speculation about my future but I am hopeful I can play more," said Kuszczak.
"There has always been competition for this club and there always will be. This is how football works.
"I intend to do well all the time when I get a chance to play. That is what would give me a future at United."
