Swansea City have received a boost after learning captain Garry Monk is now only expected to be sidelined for two months.
Monk suffered a knee injury during Saturday's FA Cup win over Colchester United and there were initial fears that he had damaged cruciate ligaments.
Scans showed that the defender had ruptured his medial knee ligament and he was initially ruled out for three months.
But a further consultation with knee specialist Jonathan Webb on Tuesday has resulted in further upbeat news for Monk and he is not expected to be out for more than eight weeks.
The Swans captain told the club's official website: "I am still not happy to be out injured but considering I thought I would be out for nine months, this is a good result for me. It's bittersweet.
"Now I've got to work hard to get back as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of February or beginning of March."
