Midfielder expected to leave Pompey

Skysports.com understands Cardiff and Norwich are keen on signing Portsmouth midfielder Michael Brown. Brown looks set to leave Fratton Park this month after failing to reach a compromise with Portsmouth over a clause in his contract that gives him a pay rise should he play another game. A number of clubs are thought to have been alerted to Brown's situation and are ready to make a move for the experienced midfielder before the transfer window slams shut. Wolves have been credited with an interest in the former Tottenham and Sheffield United man, but it appears Cardiff and Norwich are leading the race for the 33-year-old. Cardiff and Norwich are both keen to bolster their squads as they battle for promotion and they believe Brown's experience could boost their hopes of getting to the Premier League.
