Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is confident Manchester City target Dani Alves will sign a new deal with the club.
The club president addressed fans on Saturday and admitted that, while the club are still looking to reach an agreement Alves, he is confident of the player staying at the Camp Nou.
Manchester City are reportedly interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Eastlands to add to their defensive options.
Rosell moved to play down speculation and insisted that the right-back is happy playing for the Spanish league leaders.
"It would be absurd to end our relationship," said Rosell.
"The two parties will focus on the matter in the best way possible and I am sure there will be no problems - where would he feel better than here?
"I am totally convinced that he signs a new deal with us. The two sides want to find a solution to this subject soon."
