Forward set for Hoffenheim switch

Liverpool have accepted a bid for Holland international Ryan Babel from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. Skysports.com revealed earlier on Tuesday that the forward was undergoing a medical with the German side ahead of his anticipated Anfield exit. And the Reds confirmed soon after that the offer they had received for the former Ajax player, believed to be in the region of £7million, would be enough to secure his services. Babel has now been given the green light to hold discussions over personal terms before putting pen-to-paper with his prospective new employers.

Accepted

A statement on the club's official website read: "Liverpool FC this afternoon announced they had accepted a bid from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the transfer of Dutch international Ryan Babel. "The Bundesliga club have now been given permission to discuss personal terms with the player, who has travelled to Germany." Babel has been unable to make the anticipated impact on Merseyside following his £11.5million signing in the summer of 2007. He made just 31 Premier League starts in his time with Liverpool and was more often utilised from the bench, with 60 further outings.
