Scunthorpe United manager Ian Baraclough has expressed his disappointment after Kilmarnock striker Conor Sammon rejected a move to Glanford Park.
The Championship strugglers had agreed a fee with Kilmarnock for Sammon and hoped to add the forward to their squad.
However, after thinking about the transfer overnight, Sammon has turned down the offer, forcing Baraclough to look elsewhere to pep up his attack.
"I'm obviously very disappointed," Baraclough told the club's official website. "We put a fantastic offer to the lad and we went as far as we could go with the fee with Kilmarnock.
"The boy spoke to me this morning and apologised. He liked everything about the club but didn't feel it was the right time for him to be moving on
"He was courteous enough and said that he wanted to speak with us about the move.
"He felt though that because he was having such a good season at Kilmarnock and, having spoken to his wife and family, that it wasn't the right time for him to move down here.
"Whether someone else comes in later on in the window we'll see, but we made a good offer to Conor and that's the disappointing thing.
"We're switching to other targets now. You have to move on and we're trying as hard as we can as a staff and as a group to bring players in who can enhance things."
