Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart believes team-mate Gareth Bale will be good enough to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future.
The Welsh winger is enjoying a fine season with Spurs, becoming one of their most important players in the space of a year after initially struggling to impress following his move from Southampton in 2007.
Bale has now become one of the hottest properties in Europe, with his dazzling destruction of Brazilian full-back Maicon in Spurs' Champions League games against Inter Milan demonstrating his prodigious talents.
Dutch international Van der Vaart knows all about playing in La Liga, having joined Spurs last summer from Real Madrid after struggling to nail down a first-team spot in his two seasons there.
However, the 27-year-old feels Bale could be a huge success in Spain, although he feels it is of paramount importance for Spurs to retain his services.
"I think that in three or four years he (Bale) could play for (Real) Madrid or Barcelona," Van der Vaart said in an interview with Spanish newspaper Sport.
"He is a very young player, very fast, physical and has a lot of quality.
"However, it goes without saying that I want him to stay here (at Tottenham) because he is very important for us."
