Chelsea have not made a £52million bid for Atletico Madrid pair Sergio Aguero and Diego Godin.
Comments from Rojiblancos majority shareholder Miguel Angel Gil in the Spanish capital suggested that the Blues had made an attempt at an audacious double swoop for the duo.
Gil claimed that the club had rejected Chelsea's apparent offer, and another from Real Madrid, saying: "In the last week, we have received two offers.
"One from Real for Aguero for 45million euros and the other from Chelsea for Aguero and Diego Godin for 60million.
"Atletico have said no to the two offers because they believe in these two players."
However, it is understood that there is no foundation to the rumour and no approach has been made from the Premier League holders.
Chelsea have been linked with Argentine striker Aguero for several years, but have so far not managed to lure the player to Stamford Bridge.
Uruguay international defender Godin only moved to the Vicente Calderon in the summer of 2010 from Villarreal, but his performances in helping the national team to the semi-finals of the World Cup attracted interest from several clubs.
Chelsea refused to comment directly on the claims, with a spokesman saying: "We never comment on transfer speculation, no matter how wild it is."
