Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has implied that Charlie Adam should not be allowed to leave Blackpool for anything less than £10million.
Ferguson has heaped praise on his fellow Scot after he played an influential part in Blackpool's eventual 3-2 defeat to United on Tuesday night.
Adam, who has requested a transfer amid bids from United's bitter rivals, Liverpool, and Aston Villa, created goals for team-mates Craig Cathcart and DJ Campbell from first-half corners.
And, despite United coming back in the space of 16 second-half minutes thanks to Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez, Ferguson was highly impressed by Blackpool's captain.
"We were deep in the mire in the first half," said United's manager.
"We just couldn't handle Charlie Adam's free-kicks and corners.
"We were all over the place. His corner kicks are worth £10million in themselves.
"The boy is an incredible striker of the ball."
United moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League as a result of their thrilling win, but Ferguson questioned the performance of his side and feared they were a little arrogant after demolishing Birmingham at the weekend.
He said: "The rhythm of our game was poor in the first half. Our penetration wasn't right.
"I just wonder if they were over confident before the game.
"They got a rude awakening, but this is a result industry and we got a result which may have a big impact on the league at the end of the season."
