Wolves defender Richard Stearman has targeted an international call-up for England after signing a new contract.
The 23-year-old former England Under 21 international penned a new three-and-a-half year deal at Molineux earlier in the week following some solid performances at centre-half.
Stearman has made 18 appearances in the Premier League this season and feels he is improving after making the switch to Wolves from Leicester in 2008.
Now he wants to earn a call to the senior Three Lions squad and hopes to continue impressing boss Mick McCarthy.
"I feel I've come on leaps and bounds since I arrived at Wolves," he said.
"This is the first time I've had a sustained run in the Premier League in my natural position of centre-half.
"I hope I'm rewarding the gaffer (Mick McCarthy) for keeping faith in me and I aspire to get better.
"I want to continue playing for Wolves in the Premier League - but I've got international aspirations as well."
Stearman is relieved to have tied up his future in a deal which keeps him at the club until the summer of 2014.
"It's been in the back of my mind now for a while that my contract has been running down," he added.
"It's great to have got something agreed. Players are rewarded here for what they do on the pitch and now I can just concentrate on my football."
