Queens Park Rangers winger Lee Cook has revealed that he is keen to go out on loan in an attempt to regain match fitness.
The 28-year-old was sidelined for the first half of the season in order to do extra strengthening work on his leg, but made his first appearance of the campaign in the FA Cup clash at Blackburn earlier this month.
Skysports.com revealed on Tuesday that League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday are keen on bringing Cook to Hillsborough on loan.
And, with first-team chances at a premium and QPR firing on all cylinders, the former Watford man admits he is hopeful of securing a loan switch soon.
"I've had a few run-outs, with two reserve games under my belt, so I'm close to full match fitness and I'm naturally quite fit during games anyway," Cook told skysports.com.
"I probably need one more and then we will take it from there.
"We've had a brief chat about it, but the gaffer keeps telling me how strong and well I look with all the extra stuff that I've been doing in training.
"I'd like to go out for a month because I need to be fully match fit before I can earn the right to start here.
"I came back from pre-season thinking that I was fully fit and ready to go, but the surgeon had another look and told me that the leg wasn't quite right.
"So I had to do a lot more strengthening work on it, which is why I've been sidelined for an extra six or seven months.
"To finally make my first appearance of the season was great and coming out of it with no niggles was good too."
