Watford have completed the signing of Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater on loan until the end of the season.
Skysports.com revealed earlier on Friday that the 20-year-old was heading to Vicarage Road after being recalled from a stint at Cardiff City.
Drinkwater had made 12 appearances for Cardiff, but had featured only twice since the end of November after struggling with illness and injury.
He was summoned back to United, but has now been loaned out again and will hope to emulate the impact Tom Cleverley enjoyed at Watford last season.
The youngster, who has yet to make his debut for United, will not be eligible for Watford's FA Cup tie against Brighton on Saturday after playing in Cardiff's third-round replay against Stoke City last week.
Hornets boss Malky Mackay told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to get Danny in.
"He's a young player who has been moulded by Manchester United, he was out at Huddersfield on loan last season and has played for Cardiff in the Championship.
"He took a little injury and was out of the team but is now back fully fit.
"Five clubs were in for him this week - Manchester United were good enough to allow me to speak to him and for Danny to come here. I think our previous work in the loan market with young players certainly has something to do with it.
"Tom Cleverley came to the football club, was treated well, had a good time here and became an England Under 21 international."
