Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca is hoping to pull his side up the Championship table and earn a new contract in the process.
The 30-year-old Argentine's current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and he will be hoping to stay on at The Riverside.
Boro have finally found some form following a dreadful start to the campaign in the second tier, and Arca is determined to continue working hard to help the team.
"Obviously my contract is running out, so I want to play as much as I can and hopefully play well. I want to play for myself and for the rest of the players," he told the Evening Gazette.
On the changes made under Tony Mowbray on Teesside, he added: "It wasn't working out before for some reason. We couldn't find the right answer.
"Then the new gaffer came in and tried something different and things are slowly starting to work again.
"You can see the difference it is making. The players are more confident and we look like we can win every game.
"We have improved from week to week. We are trying to stick with the manager's philosophy, which is making a difference for us in this league.
"A lot of teams play the long ball to a big guy up front but we don't have a big guy. So the way we play suits the players we have got here."
Arca has been with Boro since arriving at the club in 2006, having spent six previous years at Sunderland.
