Peter Lovenkrands has insisted there are plenty of goals in the Newcastle team despite the departure of Andy Carroll.
Carroll secured a big-money move to Liverpool on transfer deadline day in January and there was not enough time to bring in a replacement, leading to concerns that the Magpies could struggle up front during the second half of the season.
Newcastle made light of those worries as they battled back for a thrilling 4-4 draw against Arsenal earlier this month, but Saturday's goalless stalemate at Blackburn has reopened the debate over whether they were too reliant on Carroll.
Lovenkrands, however, is confident the strikers still at Alan Pardew's disposal can step up and fill the void.
The Danish forward, who was given the opportunity to start at Ewood Park, believes his goal record shows that he can be successful for the Magpies.
"Everyone will focus on our strikers every time we don't score now that Andy is away," he said in the Daily Mirror.
"But we've got players who can come in and score for us. I got 16 goals last year, that's only three less than Andy, and I played less games than him.
"Yes, he's a big miss, of course. He's a great player and good luck to him. But we have players here that can go and fill his boots.
"We just need that bit of luck to set us off and I'm sure we'll be fine.
"Both me and Leon Best have been waiting on our chance. There's been a lot of times when we've felt we should have been playing. But now we've got a chance, we need to go and prove it."
Lovenkrands, 31, was presented with a wonderful chance to score against Blackburn when he was released by Jose Enrique's pass, but could not quite provide the finishing touch.
He reflected: "I saw Jose was going to play it long and I just got in behind Chris Samba.
"I clocked in my head that the keeper was coming out of his goal.
"I got the lob over him and caught him in no man's land, he was just standing there. I thought it was in, but it dropped on the bar.
"I couldn't believe it but sometimes it just doesn't go for you."
