Barcelona's Brazilian international Dani Alves admits he would like to join coach Pep Guardiola by extending his contract at Camp Nou and said that he was confident the ongoing talks would have a happy ending.
Alves, 27, is out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with big-spending Manchester City.
But recent reports in the local Spanish media claim the right-back is on the brink of agreeing terms on a lucrative new long-term deal.
"Pep (Guardiola) has signed until 2012 so we will be together for at least one more season and I hope we continue together for longer," Alves said in
Sport.
"My intention is to carry on here and I am very relaxed about this."
Progress
Alves also revealed that he had a good relationship with new Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and that the two had been making progress towards a new deal.
"My relationship with him (Rosell) goes beyond him being the club president," explained Alves.
"I have known him from the Brazilian national team for a long time and we have been friends a long time too.
"There is no reason to be worried as we are heading in the same direction.
"When you are doing that it can be a long road, but I am sure it will have a happy ending.
"If the club do their bit and I do mine, it will have a happy ending."
Alves joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2008 and has won two league titles, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey in his first two seasons with the club.
