Hull City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed winger Cameron Stewart will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Stewart suffered the injury during the latter stages of last weekend's 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town and the Tigers are still waiting to learn the full extent of the damage.
The 19-year-old is likely to undergo surgery next week and Pearson admits it is a blow to lose Stewart for the rest of the campaign.
"It will probably be a week before he has surgery but it looks like it's going to be long-term," said Pearson in the Hull Daily Mail.
"That's disappointing because he's been a real bright spark for us.
"We don't know how long it will be. Until we can see what's going on in the knee with surgery, it will be difficult to say but it will be the rest of the season."
Stewart has made 15 appearances for the Tigers since his initial loan arrival from Manchester United in November before signing a permanent deal in the January transfer window.
