Watford have allowed Andros Townsend to return to Tottenham Hotspur after cutting short the winger's loan at Vicarage Road.
Townsend joined the Hornets in January on loan until the end of the season, but he has struggled to make an impact in Malky Mackay's side.
He had made three appearances for Watford but, after being an unused substitute against Preston North End, he was overlooked for the last two matches.
Hornets boss Mackay says it is a 'shame' that Townsend's loan did not work out following a stint at Ipswich Town earlier in the season.
"We're very grateful to Harry Redknapp and the Tottenham staff for their help in arranging this loan," said Mackay.
"It is a shame it hasn't worked out for either us or Andros and we wish him well for the future."
