Emmanuel Adebayor believes Kolo Toure will learn from his 'little mistake' and hopes the Football Association do not severely punish the Manchester City defender.
Toure is currently suspended after he tested positive for a 'specified' substance last month, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claiming the Ivory Coast international had taken one of his wife's diet pills.
Adebayor, who is currently on loan at Real Madrid from City, is convinced that Toure would not deliberately use drugs to enhance his performance.
He admits it is currently a 'tough moment' and is optimistic that Toure will soon be allowed to be back playing for City again.
"It's a tough moment for him," Adebayor told Sky Sports News Radio.
"He can make a little mistake and it can be a very big story along your life.
"I keep him in my prayers. Kolo is more like a brother to me than a friend. I wish him all the best of luck.
"I know Kolo Toure very well and I know Kolo would never take any drug to be able to help his ability on the football pitch. I know him very well because he always comes to my house.
"I think it's more for losing of weight. It's a little mistake.
"I think now he will learn from his mistake and hopefully the FA will manage to see that he's innocent of it and hopefully he will be back on the football pitch and play again."
Adebayor added: "He's feeling good. He's a little bit down, which is normal.
"We are all human. I hope he will be back on the football pitch very soon."
