France coach Laurent Blanc has revealed that he is to meet with Patrice Evra to discuss the full-back's international future.
The Manchester United defender was frozen out by Les Bleus since being identified as a ringleader in last summer's shambolic World Cup showing.
As skipper of a side that went on strike mid-tournament, Evra was banned for five games by the French Football Federation (FFF).
He has not been recalled since serving that suspension, with seven fixtures having now passed since his last international outing.
Blanc, who inherited the national reins after the 2010 World Cup, has hinted that he is prepared to forgive and forget, though, with Evra not banished to the wilderness for good.
He is, however, keen to meet with the Red Devils left-back before making a decision on whether to draft him back into the fold or not.
Blanc told the FFF's official website: "I spoke to him recently, but it was a very short telephone conversation.
"I expect to see him and talk with him because I have some things to say and it must be face to face. I do not know (what will happen), as I only know him from afar.
"Before you say certain things, you must know the person."
Another of those to have faced sanction following events in South Africa was Franck Ribery, who was handed a three-match ban.
Since then the Bayern Munich winger has suffered a succession of injury problems, ruling him out of the reckoning.
He has been returned to the fold for upcoming fixtures against Luxembourg and Croatia, though, and Blanc hopes the 27-year-old can put his recent troubles behind him.
"He has been better physically, playing four or five games without a problem," said the France coach.
"He is regaining qualities he has lacked for a time, particularly in terms of speed.
"He has not yet regained his full potential but he is close, and when he is like that, he is good enough to be in the France squad.
"As for his state of mind, we must ask the question of him. I was very clear. The mood is an important criterion for my selection. It is important that everyone, including him, is beyond reproach at this level.
"If he is, everyone will benefit. If not, I must make a decision."
