Wigan's Emmerson Boyce expects the fight for survival to be decided on the last day of the season.

Latics defender feels home form could prove crucial

Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce expects the fight for Premier League survival to be decided on the last day of the season. The Latics currently prop up the table, but are only two points adrift of safety following a 2-1 win over relegation rivals Birmingham City in their last fixture. In a tightly congested bottom half of the table, Wigan still have to face several of the other teams battling to preserve their top-flight status. Roberto Martinez's side entertain Tottenham Hotspur at the DW Stadium on Saturday and Boyce feels home form could be key to dictating who avoids the drop. "Survival generally depends on your home form," Boyce told Wigan Today. "If we can come up with three wins out of three we'll give ourselves a big chance of staying up. "It'll go right to the last day of the season again, but hopefully we can come up with some results of our own so we're not relying on other teams losing to stay up."
