Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho claims Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Marcelo are unlikely to be fit for next week's UEFA Champions League clash against Tottenham.
Former Manchester United star Ronaldo has been struggling with a hamstring injury he picked up in the Madrid derby before the international break
Striker Benzema suffered a thigh injury during France's goalless draw with Croatia in midweek, while full-back Marcelo sustained a rib problem while training with Brazil.
The trio have been ruled out of this weekend's Primera Liga clash with Sporting Gijon and Mourinho does not expect to have them available again until the game with Athletic Bilbao on 9th April.
"According to the information that I have from the medical service, Cristiano can only play at Bilbao (on April 9), Marcelo can only play at Bilbao and Karim can only play at Bilbao," said Mourinho.
Better news on the injury front for Mourinho is the return to fitness of striker Gonzalo Higuain after back surgery.
The Argentine ace has been included in the squad to face Gijon after making a quicker than expected recovery and Mourinho admitted it was a welcome boost to have Higuain available again.
"His recovery is a positive surprise because we thought he may miss up to the final 15 games of the season and having him is important," added Mourinho.
