Bayer Leverkusen star Michael Ballack has been fined €8,000 for insults directed at his club's local rivals Cologne.
Former Chelsea midfielder Ballack made the insult after the recent 2-0 win over Schalke when fans delighted by the win beckoned him over and encouraged him to chant through a megaphone after the game.
He apologised the following day but the German Football Federation has decided to take disciplinary action against the former Germany captain.
Ballack has endured a disappointing season back at Leverkusen with the midfielder only recently recovering from a long lay-off.
