Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is closing in on a return to fitness having overcome a stomach virus.
The Scotland international has been sidelined for over fours weeks due to the illness, which has seen him lose weight.
Fletcher is due for an assessment on Friday, but is expected to miss United's second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Chelsea.
The FA Cup semi-final with rivals Manchester City may also prove too soon for the 27-year-old, with boss Sir Alex Ferguson concerned over his compatriot's energy levels.
"Darren will be in on Friday," Ferguson told The Times. "He's had a terrible virus. It's one of those energy-sapping viruses that you can get and he lost a bit of weight.
"But that weight is back on again now and we'll look forward to seeing him on Friday, take it from there and see how the progress is going."
Meanwhile, Brazilian midfielder Anderson made a goalscoring return to action on Thursday, netting a brace in a 3-1 win over Man City in a reserve meeting.
Anderson had been sidelined with a knee injury since February, but may have played himself into contention for Saturday's Premier League visit of Fulham.
