Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale admits Mark Schwarzer's form could eventually force him to reassess his future at Craven Cottage.
The 25-year-old has taken a backseat to No.1 shot-stopper Schwarzer once again this season, starting just 10 games for the Cottagers.
And Stockdale, who has been on the fringes of the England squad, says he may look elsewhere for regular football if the 38-year-old Australian continues to keep him out.
"Hope I can challenge for No 1 spot next year," Stockdale wrote on his Twitter account.
"If not I will have to evaluate my future as MS (Schwarzer) is looking in good shape."
Despite his hunger for regular first-team football, Stockdale has made it clear he has no immediate plans to leave the club.
The keeper, who has two years remaining on his current deal, added: "If people think I don't want to play for Fulham that's wrong! I WANT to play at Fulham for a long time! PLAY being the word!
"It's not a threat not anything just my thoughts and I have 2 years on my contract."
Stockdale, who arrived at Fulham from Darlington in 2008, has kept five clean sheets from his 10 starts this term.
The keeper has spent time on loan at Rotherham, Leicester and Plymouth Argyle during his time with the Cottagers.
