Polish striker reveals he will not be signing a new deal

Ireneusz Jelen has confirmed that he will be leaving Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre at the end of the season. The Poland international will see his contract expire in the summer and has made it clear that he will not be penning an extension. The 30-year-old has made 135 appearances for Auxerre since joining from Wisla Plock in 2006, scoring 48 goals. He is considered to be an integral part of the first-team set-up at Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps, but is now readying himself for a new challenge. Jelen insists he will give his all to Auxerre's survival bid before he departs, but reports suggest he is already attracting interest from Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiakos.

Bigger club

In an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza, Jelen said: "I shall help to keep Auxerre in Ligue 1 but afterwards I will go to a bigger club. "I will not prolong my contract." Agent Tomasz Kaczmarczyk added: "We exclude nothing, but Ireneusz prefers a club in Western Europe. "I will show him a few offers in May, he will choose the best."
