Northern Ireland striker aims to keep the pressure on Celtic

Kyle Lafferty wants to replicate his title winning form and play a key role in the league race for Rangers. The Northern Ireland international has been instrumental for Gers in the last couple of campaigns with crucial goals. Last season his solitary strike against Hibernian sealed the title and in the previous term and was on target in the 3-0 win over Dundee as Rangers again claimed the Scottish Premier League. This year, the title race again looks like it will be a hard fought contest and Lafferty is ready to produce his best.

Best spell

"The final seven or eight games of last season were probably my best spell in a Rangers jersey," said Lafferty. "I think it was just a case of everything I hit going in! I didn't do anything different between the start of the season and the end, but everything went in my favour. "Hopefully that is the same again this season. I want to go out again and score that are important to the team and hopefully help us to clinch the title." Rangers travel to Aberdeen on Wednesday night as they bid to maintain the pressure on the league leaders Celtic.
Exciting
"It's going to be an exciting eight games with so much still to play for," he added. "We go in to every game looking to avoid dropping points but I think there will be a few more twists in the championship race. "All we have to do is go out and try to get as many points as we can and try to put on a performance. "I think it's harder for a team with a smaller squad. Celtic have a massive squad and they can pull players out and put others in."
